Full of nostalgia and warmth, Nam Heong’s food will bring you down memory lane to Ipoh’s bygone days as you sample the scrumptious dishes evolved from traditional recipes. Traditionally called Tau Fu Fa, this dessert is a silky, luscious bean-curd perfectly complemented with a rich sugar syrup. Sold all around Ipoh, this delicious dessert is highly popular amongst locals and tourists alike. Ipoh lays claim for making its beancurd from pure spring water, ensuring a smooth and velvety texture – perfect for the young and old. You can barely turn a street corner without encountering a dessert stall selling Teochew beancurd, so don’t miss the chance to try one out, even if you’re not familiar with local/Asian desserts! Well-known stores include “Funny Mountain”, located at 49 Jalan Theatre 30300 Ipoh, as well as “Woong Kee Tau Fu Fa (旺记豆腐花)”, at 32-38A Jalan Ali Pitchay, 30250.

|Tong Sui Kai (Dessert Street)
Tong Sui Kai (literally meaning Dessert Street) is a mecca for those with an insatiable sweet tooth. From a simple shaved ice (made with ice and a variety of ingredients of different textures) to Ipoh’s well- loved mixed fruit ABC dessert, this street is full of delicious options for those in need of a sugar fix, or a refreshingly cold treat after a day of exploring the city. Not a fan of sweets? No sweat – Tong Sui Kai offers a wide range of options besides desserts as well! A place that thrives and flourishes at night, Tong Sui Kai is also a fantastic place to go to for dinner or supper, serving street food staples such as beef noodle soup and rojak, which is a traditional fruit and vegetable salad dish tossed in a rich nutty sauce. If a breath of fresh air and a little break from civilisation is what you need, then Gunung Lang Recreational Park is just the place for you. |Ipoh Old Town (Wall murals & Art Installations)
Streetart fans rejoice, at Ipoh Old Town, you’ll get to experience immersive pop art installations by the famous artist Ernest Zacharevic, who is also known for his amazing artworks in Georgetown.
There’s a total of three main Concubine Lanes in Ipoh’s Old Town, discover the psychedelic hues of umbrellas hovering overhead are unique to the 2nd Concubine lane (also known as The Market Lane) only. Be sure to catch some shots with families and friends here.
